We are Dwight (Pete) Tripp and Jane Gray.

Pete spent most of his working life raising & milking outstanding Holsteins, running a farm auction business, serving his town as selectman for 30 years, served 8 years on the Federal Farm Credit Board, 1 year as Chairman, and raising 3 daughters. After those accomplishments he set out to see if he could raise Percheron horses of the same notable quality as his Holsteins had been. He began raising Percherons in the 1970s.

Jane started her work life as the owner of a fabric shop for 3 years while her daughter and two sons were young. After selling the fabric business, she went back to college to complete a BS degree in accounting. When she couldn’t find a job working for another accountant, she started her own accounting practice, receiving her CPA license in 1984. She has continued to offer tax return & payroll preparation services since then.

In addition she runs a retail forestry supply business from her office and on the internet. At the time she & Pete got together, she was raising top quality Belgians and winning ribbons with them around the Northeast.

At the time Pete & Jane joined forces, Pete had just started using a young MG’s Prince son- LD’s Prince Pat- as a herd sire on the Percherons. Offspring of that stallion crossed with a Prince Did mare-Prince’s Faith Bonnie- really put the Trippcrest Percherons at the top of the confirmation classes. Two mares from that combination-Trippcrest Pat’s Sugar Babe and Trippcrest Pat’s Bobbi- have been in most all the Trippcrest hitch classes and have consistently qualified as All American nominees based on their performance in confirmation classes. Other horses have been added over the years but Babe & Bobbi always seem to find a place in the hitch.

The hitch has grown to a six horse hitch which performs at many of the New England and particularly Maine fairs. In 2008 Pete & Jane and 3 friends took 3 mares to the World Percheron Congress in Toronto, placing 2nd in the tandem class. Quite an accomplishment!

In addition to remaining very competitive in hitching, breeding world class horses is a goal at Trippcrest Farm. Artificial breeding has allowed Trippcrest mares to be bred to stallions including Pleasant View King, Skyview Count On It, Eyebright Fury, BP Prestige and Crawford Farms Hunter Blue Ribbon Farms Hercules, Ironwood Beauregard, Lola’s Cracker Jack. The stallion in residence at Trippcrest Farm is an Ironwood Beauregard son, My Home Acres Beau’s Cruiser. Cruiser’s offspring have consistently been taller than their mothers with a lot of action and have done well in the show ring. Several have been All American nominees.
